As I am super eager on buying a DVD player I have been doing quite a bit of information hunting and a most wonderful thing happened on Wednesday April 21st,last week....The Hearld Sun printed a supliment paper call :- Hearld Sun CONNECT Computers/Sound & Vision.
There was a two page article all about DVD Players here is one very very interesting part of that report :)
WHAT'S THIS ABOUT ZONES?????
To restrict the flow of illegally produced DVD titles,
the world has been divided up into six zones or locales.
Each DVD movie has a built-in code which prevents its playback on
DVD players from other zones.
This means discs bought in one part of the world may not run on players bought in another country.
Australia is in Zone 4, but the availability of multi-zone players capable of playing DVDs from any part of the globe means zoning is less of an issue than when DVD first appeared.
Several outlets can MODIFY your DVD player to "De-regionalise"
it and make it compatible with DVD software from all regions.
So folks, if you been waiting like I have, that news item was like music to my ears.
