Dont go to Amed if you are in Permuteran. It's like changing from a Lamboghini to Toyota. Permuteran is more clean, close to Bali Barat National Park where there is fine walks in the jungle, you are close to Menjangan National Park (top dive site). You can go to hot springs in Banjar (recommended) and visit lovina for shopping.
We found Taman Selini next to Pondok Sari better value - we looked at all 3 hotels in the area, Taman Selini was more clean and quiet. But I think Pondok Sari is fine two!
Bring good books since it is very quiet in Permuteran.
