My wife and I are going to Bali in May. We are comparing rates at the Ritz Carlton vs. the Inter Continental. They are almost identical! Actually, the rates at the Ritz are slightly higher - but not enough to be meaningful. Neither one of us has ever been to Bali and we would love to hear feedback from anyone who has stayed at either hotel with details of their experience(s). Specifically, we are interested in the Spa facilities offered by both resorts.

Based on name-recognition alone we feel inclined to take the room at the Ritz Carlton, but we have a real dilemma. The website for the Inter Continental gives incredible details about their Uluwatu spa. I have to admit, the Inter Continental has done such a great job marketing their Spa on the web that I am about to change my mind and book our room at the Inter Continental. Is this a mistake?

The description of the Spa on the Ritz Carlton site is totally boring and non-descriptive! More alarmingly, when I called the Ritz, I told them I was considering staying at a different hotel because the other hotel offered better Spa services. I asked them to describe the Spa services the Ritz offered. The salesperson proceeded to ignore my question about the spa and just talked about how great the buffet at the Ritz is!!!??? What's that!!!???

Has anybody had ANY experiences with the Spa's AT EITHER resort? If price was no object (it really isn't - they are almost exactly the same price) where would you stay?

Is it easy to get from the Ritz to the Intercontinental, so that we could stay at the Ritz and just use the Spa at the Intercontinental?

Your feedback will determine our reservations for the week!!! :-)
