Best to take cash and not traverlers checks USD. But watch your cash.
The exchange rate of cash is higher than travelers checks and always have your passport with you. Because in order to cash TC you need it.
At the airport, usually the last money exchanger has the best prices. It was even better than UBUD.
Good resturant in Ubud, Cafe Wayan. And there is a Thia place in Ubud, but I don't remember the name. It's upstairs and VERY nice. And the best other suggestion I could offer is hire a good driver/guide. Then all your questions will be answered for you. They will know everything about their island.
