Yes they can wait in the car for you. Yes they can join you to be your guide. Yes you can hire them for half a day or full day. What ever you want. You make the rules and they will follow your lead.
You hire them and then you sit back an relax and enjoy your trip/vaction/honeymoon, whatever. They will hassle with the traffic and parking.
It's really nice to hire a good driver and just sit back and relax.
And YES you can tip them. They appreciate all tips. Yes you can buy them lunch but you don't have too. Yes it's an excellent idea to ask them to come with you shopping or to the money exchanger. The more extra help they give you then you might consider giving them a tip, over what you agreed to pay them for the daily journey.
