A pram is very difficult to manoeuvre anywhere in Bali. In the Kuta area where there are footpaths, they are usually riddled with gaping drain holes, sometimes boarded up, sometimes not, but impossible to traverse either way. So you are often forced onto the road with the manic motorbikes and cars. Other parts of the island don't have footpaths anyway. The suggestion of one of those three wheeled all terrain prams is a good one, but how to put it on the plane? Anyway we did take a pram for our toddler just to keep him contained, so if there are two of you, you can lift a light pusher over obstacles. The local men are always very willing to help you with this too, and actually take pleasure in it, an excuse to lavish attentions on your precious cargo. As you have probably heard Balinese people just love kids. A backpack is a good alternative.
