In part I might have been spoiled by the Le Meridien at Tanah Lot but here goes for other reasons: 1. several of the rooms smell moldy, 2. unless you like waking at 5AM, watch that your room is not close to the mosque (I actually like the Moslem chants but beside the hour, the not great sounding broadcast system did not help), 3. except for the well staffed front desk often hard to find help--when I was locked out (more to follow) it took almost a half hour to get someone from housekeeping to let me in, 4 only one key is given per room--fine for romantic lovers--and probably not big problem unless traveling with a teen or similar who does not remember that the key has to be turned in. I also thought it suffered by comparison to the grounds and friendliness at Sengiggi Beach Hotel. The prices for drinks etc. were almost the same as the Le Meridien but the ambiance, service etc. were far below--Sengiggi Beach was about 1/2 the cost on many of the same items. Even little things while not bad where not quite right--my son characterized it as they did the absolute minimum to satisfy 4 star and not an iota more. But I would definately go back to Lombok again.
