We were in the same position as you, but friends recommended we stay in Amed (Lippah). We stayed four days but really it was too long for our needs. The days we toured the area were great! The King's palace, the water palaces and the area of Tinganen (my personal favourite) were splendid. The landscapes in the eastern side is quite breathtaking despite the bumpy roads.
