Just got back last week from Bali and went on a day trip up that way and true the hawkers are really bad up that way but the view is incredible but get there early to avoid cloud/fog/rain etc.
And for a quick get away stay close to your transport which can park on the side of the road oh and if your thinking of going up that way can I suggest you don't do a tour so you can stop and start where ever you choose so you don't get stuck going to places where the tour guide obviously gets commision and you get ripped off at the shops etc.
