There WAS NO trouble last May. The Balinese are not the sort of people to involve tourists in their strongly felt political struggle. Last year in May, the staff at our Hotel were very nearly in tears at the amount of cancellations they got, I felt very sorry for them indeed. As I said, higher up the page we were very unfairly pulled out by British Airways, but our son and his girlfriend stayed on and even went to other (carefully chosen!) islands, they experienced no trauma whatsoever. The only difference they felt was that the dive sites were deserted, the streets empty, the prices lower because everybody else had gone and the poor Balinese desperate to almost give away their hotel rooms and goods. Please Go! I'm sure you won't regret it, if you're worried keep an eye on things and make sure that before you pay for your holiday you have full cancellation insurance in case you must pull out for whatever reason.
