I think most of us feel this way. And customs DO make it clear what IS NOT allowed to be brought into the country, but make suggestions ONLY of what POSSIBLY MAY NOT be allowed & in need of being declared. I agree with the purchase of endangered species, bits & pieces of dead animals, etc., sometimes the buyer is unaware of what is endangered, can you imagine the logistics of trying to keep abreast of this. One assumes if an item is for sale it IS NOT endangered. But it is also good at this stage to talk of other items like bamboo, timber, etc, so as to pass advice to other travellers.
