We have just got back from Bali staying at the Intercontinental. It was a very good hotel and my partner and I could not fault it.
The service is excellent and the location provides the relaxed atmosphere which you will welcome when you want to escape from the Bali rat race.
My suggestion would to definately get breakfast included in the package, as there is not many options in the area to get it anywhere else. The breakfasts are excellent, and if you get the american breakfast built into the deal, then you can get it delivered to your room or have it in the restaurant.
The beach location of the intercontinental is excellent, with the swimming pool areas leading stright to the beach only 20 metres away. The hotel provides a very relaxed atmosphere, with sun lounges, hammocks, protective bungalows etc. They will provide iced cold face towels during the day as well as complimentary iced cold tropical fruit.
Near the pool there is a good cafe style restaurant which provides reasonably priced meals (expensive compared to bali but about the same as what you pay in Australia. I had a excellent indonsesian noodle dish here.
The rooms are excellent (we stayed in room 4225) which had a excellent view of the ocean and pool even though it was one of the base rate roome. The room has a very big marble bathroom, they provide slippers and japanese robes. Mini bar is OK, but we preferred to go to the supermarket across the road to stock up on beer and softdrinks for a fraction of the price.
My tip to you if you stay at this hotel is to definately get access to the Uluwartu health club included into your package (we got it chucked in for no extra cost - it includes everything except massage treatments. This spa has to be seen to be believed - very swish. All marble, indoor & outdoor whirlpools, sauna, steam room, plunge pool, complimentary water, shampoo's etc... It was excellent to escape to this area for further relaxation.
The only complaint that I would have is that the hotel does not provide a shuttle bus into Kuta, but for a taxi it only costs between 10,000 & 15,000 rupiah anyway. The Jimbaran area is a excellent location because you are central to kuta & nusa dua.
A nice touch from the hotel is that they have a hotel representative that greets you at the airport. We did not get hotel transfers included, but this man did not mind and took care of organising us a taxi for a fixed rate, loaded our bags etc.
Anyway, if you want more info you can contact me.
