We began our stay in Ubud. Wayan doesn't live too far from here and it was an easy drive home. Later we moved on to the east coast at Lipah. We actually had to have a second car take our luggage there, (which he arranged). We were something akin to a caravan. We paid him extra for this even though he did not ask. We toured with him on the two hour drive out there. he returned home in the evening.
After a day of resting, we realized we were having much more fun with Wayan than sitting around a pool. He drove to the hotel (again four hours out of his way there and back) to take us touring again in the area we were already in.
We eventually moved on to our third location in Legian, again needing a second car to transfer the luggage, touring on our way there. Rested a day and toured with him in the south.
Besides all the wonderful places he took us to etc., Wayan was for us a lifeline in Bali. It's a scary thought to bring four kids halfway around the world. He's so intuitively sensitive, he made each of us feel totally comfortable.
I would suggest you book him in advance, however, he does have several people working for him if he is busy.
