You'll love the Bounty. I just got back (13th) with my friend. It was our first time aswell. We loved the place so much we are going back to stay in November. It's full of Aussies and Kiwi's all between the ages of 20-30 (there's a couple of oldies in there, but they don't tend to socialise with the rest in the pool as much)
You'll love the pool bar. The restaurant is quite good aswell. And the live entertainment (consisting of one balinese girl suffering from anorexia - I'm sure, and two guys trying to impersonate Neil Diamond) is great.
The staff are very friendly, always willing to help out.
The hotel also have safety deposit boxes free of charge, but be warned it is $100 US dollars if you loose the key!!!
We stayed in room 307, just around the corner from the Main pool. Great airconditioning in the rooms, but this was the cause of many colds/sore throats from many guests. Take the cold and flu tablets with you and some strepsils!!!
Don't forget the RID instect repellent also, the mozzies are everywhere at night. (Malaria tablets were not necessary)
Always take blue cabs, but as there is always green ones parked outside, ask them if they have a meter first or bargain a price. To go up the street (to Sari for example) pay only 2,000 rupiah.
The exchange rate was at 5,600 when we left to one Aussie dollar. Pretty good. Take a calculator with you so you can figure out what you are paying.
