It's a hard one isn't it. I agree that giving gifts to those who have helped make your stay an enjoyable one, but there are plenty of other people (the "all & sundry") who aren't lucky enough to hold such positions in the workforce, therefore will never be in the situation where a tourist will offer gifts. The original posting from Lisa stated whilst she was having a service performed on her she decided to reward them. OK so the hoards decended upon her, but her intention was pure. I don't think we're at risk of creating an expectation for them. Jenni.
