Lisa & JC,

From my many trips to Bali I know quite well of the wonderful response received when giving gifts to the wonderful people of Bali.
However, I have some doubts of the benefits of distributing gifts from your bags in the street. Do you not think it might be wiser to reserve your gifts for the ladies at your accomodation, who clean your room, cook your food, or give you a great massage, or even the men that do the same jobs, they have mothers, wives, sisters and children. That way you know the gifts are going to the people who have helped you enjoy your holiday, not all and sundry, and also it allays the risk of future visitors being accosted in the street with the expectations of bags full of goodies. Also, if given in this manner it is a token of appreciation rather than an act of charity, thereby keeping the dignity of these wonderful people intact.

Just a thought.

Anita
