My wife and I take used tennis balls and I mean something like twenty or thrity. The eyes of all the kids really made you feel good when we gave them one. I also take a lot of hats that have the Gold Coast on them. I play a lot of sport and get many hats given to me. Also sporting socks are a real hit. The people really like it. Giving a gift is a good feeling anyway. My wife was getting some clothes made by a friend of ours near Ubud and there were six girls working on the sewing machines and it was hot in the room, so I went the the shop over the road and bought 12 cokes. I gave them to the girls and my friend told me later that two of the girls maybe only 16 years old had never had a coke. When we came back to pick up the clothes they had made me a shirt. Just trying to be friendly has its returns.
