I was in Bali 2 weeks ago with my new husband who never, ever gets ill. It was so strange to see your story as he sufferred the exact same thing. We has been there a week and then he was struck down with something that he though was Bali-belly, but then the fever hit, along with going to the loo non-stop. Then he passed out. The doctor was called out twice who on the last call gave him an injection in his backside and then a whole lot of antibiotics, fever tablets and cramp pills. The fever died down the next day, but the cramps and diorrhia stayed for 3 days.
The lady in the next room to us had the same also, but uncontrollable vomiting for 3 days as well. The doctor said that they had caught something(obviosly) from either the water or food. It could be in ice, or how a glass was washed - even in the pool, but it was definately a form of gastro.
We have been home now 2 weeks and he is still feeling off colour. Blood tests have revealed nothing yet he still feels like crap.
Despite all of this he still says that he had a ball and that Bali is a trully beautiful place. It's just sad to think that so many people get ill every time they go.
