I'm sure the problem was not with the hotel. I wrote a fairly scathing report on the hotel after our trip in early October BUT I would certainly not suggest that the place was unclean or unsafe heathwise.
Having said that, the setup of what appeared to be a jury rigged filter hanging off the side of the pool did not fill me with confidence and I went to some pains to avoid swallowing the pool water. Despite this, the chlorine level in the pool was obviously very high so there should not have been any problems.
We ate in the hotel each morning, including cooked foods like bacon and drank their fruit juices as well. None of us was ill at all, not even a stomach cramp and I am VERY prone to gastro type bugs.
