I flew them to Bali in May and again in September. We didn't crash one time. Although I have heard many negatives about China Air on this Forum previously, I think much is a result of a crash they had earlier in the year (what Airlines hasn't crashed?). My experience is that they have been good to excellent in all areas and especially good inflight service. Spoke to a flight attendant and she said that following the previously mentioned crash, the word went out to China Air employees to go above and beyond to try to restore confidence.
Anyway, I recommend them if their schedule and price suits you. Note, on my routing I sometimes had to overnight in Taipei. No problem, the airlines puts you up in hotel and even feeds you buffet breakfast.
