first of all you didn't know what La Nina was & dismissed it as being of no concern to Bali & once you were told what it was you then stated that it has no effect on Bali. I think you should do some research before you make such statements. It may not have effected the shops on Jl. Legian & Kuta Square while you were in Bali, but that doesn't mean other parts of Bali have not been/will not feel the effects of La Nina. In fact it is predicted to have quite an impact on Bali rainfall.
Also, is famine due to rising prices of food less important than famine caused by drought/flood etc?. People are still mal-nourished no matter what the cause & don't belive that no-one in Bali is going hungry - it's not true. There are several areas in Bali (again not on Jl.Legian or Kuta Square) that have been identified as experiencing severe food shortages.
