Hi Cindy,

we're just back from Bali. One of the best snorkeling areas is Jemuluk near Amed in East Bali, many fishes although the corals don't look as good as some years before. But nevertheless, there are many colourful fishes. Places to stay are in Lipah (about 1,5 km from there) which range from Hotel Indrah (expensive 100 US$) to Hidden Paradise (normally 46 US$ but you can get 30 US$) and Vienna Homestay which is the cheapest. If you go, have dinner at Brith's Warung - he's friendly and a very nice person as well as his family.

Manjangan is supposed to be the best place but we didn't go there because accommodation is quite expensive - nothing under 38 US$ and prices are fixed. You also need transport to go to Manjangan 'cause it's a national park and hotels are not allowed. Nearest hotels are Pondok Sari and Taman Sari for about 40 US$.For the kind of rooms they offer it's too much.

Hope this helps.

Sandra
