Sanur is a great place for a totally restful holiday. All of you except your 9 yo daughter will love it. (but Kuta is only a 10-15 (blue) taxi trip away)
We have stayed at various hotels in Sanur over the years, and have always enjoyed our stay. There are many restaurants, bars etc to discover as well as some lovely shops. The street/beach hawkers are not as numerous as in Kuta.. probably because there are less targets for them. We have had one small stint at the GBB hotel, but ended up in Nusa Dua at the Putri Bali, as the power supply blew up: no lights, air conditioning, elevators, anything. Candles made for a romantic evening dining, but the lack of air-conditioning sent many patrons down to the GBB's sister hotel (Putri Bali). As was stated in an earlier posting, Nusa Dua is great if you want a resort holiday and spend lots of hard-earned money. Sanur has much more to offer, and is sooooo much cheaper.
Breakfast: Try my favourite haunt in Sanur: The Beach Market beside the GBB. Tables and chairs on the sand, under trees: a wonderful locale for any meal, but b'fast is great. When you have finished brekky walk around the back of the restaurant to discover a few very interesting stalls. Walk south along the beach and you'll find other small, interesting 'marketty' areas.

Do not hesitate in e-mailing if you require any further info.

You will love Sanur, but don't fail to go to Kuta/Legian/Tuban areas, as well as Ubud and it's environs. Also, I might suggest that a trip to the main (central) market in Denpasar is worth a visit. The smells, sights and sounds may overwhelm you!

Have a great trip, but do leave it as you found it, as we are off again late March/early April next year!!

Regards

Grant
