we stayed there last year and enjoyed it although we did move twice before we got the room we liked ( sawah 5 ). the hotel used to be an artist colony and yes, it is not as flash as others for similar price but is in a great location overlooking the side of a gully. i forget the number of the room but the first on the left as you walk down the hill has two bedrooms, each with a large bed. the hotel was renovated earlier this year i believe so may have improved. main downside if you have kids would be the walk into ubud as there are no footpaths and you have to watch the traffic. otherwise for a nice modern room at a small hotel, try bungalow 10 at the villa chempaka on jalan bisma. this is a large room, about 80-100sqm with a dining area and balcony on 2 sides set at the back of the hotel with a short, relatively safe walk into ubud.
