We spent 5 days at the Tandjung Sari (Cape of Flowers) hotel, in Sanur, and it's been by far the best time we had in Bali.
We had booked reservations to the Shanti Village Beach Hotel in Sanur (influenced by positive comments on the Forum), but we didn't like it. It felt like a tourist dormitory, the room had no style. So on the evening we had arrived, we decided to walk out and search for something else.
Not far up the road, we turned into a long alley, beautifuly lighted with little stone lamps among palmtrees, and arrived at a strange and impressive reception, where we explained the situation to the nightman.
He showed us the prices for the bungalows, and it was a bit steep for us (160 US$ + 21% charges). Seeing our problem, the man made us a very good discount.
He led us to a bungalow, in a private garden, that was somptuous. It had a huge bed with a canopy, antiques, a beautiful bath large enough for two, and an open-air shower set in the back of the bathroom, behind big windows.
We immediatly fell in love with the place. In the little garden, there was a private gazebo, with white cots and pillows, where we could spend peaceful hours in the sun, reading, dozing...
There was a long pool, a great restaurant, a library full of books in many languages with couches and comfortable armchairs, where you could have a drink from the bar.
Their strip of the Sanur beach was peaceful, even the peddlers were quieter there.
The staff of the hotel is very nice, with humor and they do their best to make you enjoy your stay.
I'm aware that 160$ is expensive for Bali, but it is really worth it, for people who come from faraway.
