A buddy and I will be in Bali Sept. 5 - 12. We plan to rent a car, but a Sport-Utility is $67 a day, which seems pricey. Has anyone traveled by rental through Bali? Better deals/ideas? Our plans are to head North almost immediately, camping on West/North coast with intermittent hotel/losmen stays, and through Ubud area on way back. Flying to Padang, Sumatra on Sept. 12, with overland travel (buses) to Medan, leaving on Sept. 19.
We are 27 years old, frequent 3rd world travellers, but have never been to Indonesia.
