Well another beautiful holiday in Bali with good company , great weather and fun times. We flew with Garuda, haven't done so in many years,1 piece of luggage damaged beyond repair and tied with string, 3.5 kg missing and label changed on luggage to say we had left from Jakarta instead of Perth, reported at airport and photographed , now to claim.
Stayed at BESAKIH BEACH RESORT, problems with air cons , but soon sorted and settled in for our weeks stay .Many diffrent age groups here ,Familys , youngsters and wrinklies, but sadly to say all needed a lesson on sunbed behaviour, down they go before 7 am towels on the ready , and of they go till 3 pm , seen this on many many occasions , and im sad to say these were not our european friends, i think it must be catching ,and i hope i never get it, We love the pool here,but used the beds under the shade of the beach trees and after many stays here ventured out to swim in the sea, and it was beautiful and warm and gently relaxing and swam every day as well as the pool .Great places to eat around here and others just a short taxi ride away, had some lovely meals and some intresting ones to.
Visited the Besakih Temple , what a walk that was to get there , but well worth it, we used a local guide and we all got alot out of it , without guide it would all be just a nice place to look at with no background info, so if you go to the temple ,do hire a local person and get so much more for your visit . Forgot to mention on the drive to the temple a cobra crossed in front of the car , first time we have seen a snake in Bali .
My friend and I did the Bamboo shoots cooking class and really enjoyed it , on the visit to the morning markets i took some time to purchase some Vanilla pods ,nice and fresh. Lots of intresting things to look at and taste . We had a large group ,i think 11 of us, we all got to do abit of chopping , slicing , and lots of eating. The only thing i think would be nice would be sticky labels with your names on when in a large group as really hard to remember everyones name.
We went to Lingalonger pub for the baby pig on the spit on the Sunday night( where i had a chat with Dutchnat and family ) It looked just perfect to me and i couldnt wait for the carving up( along with Dean) who was pacing waiting to get his try :) to try , but my friends to my horror didnt want to stay as they didnt like there surrounding , :( So looking forward to the details on all i missed out on Dutchnat :)
And the last of our holidays in Sanur we spent at A melbourne cup lunch at the Sienna hotel . well what a great time we had. I am a Melbourne cup lunch newbie, when kids were little i never done it , then a full time worker , no chance there either, so this was my very first time, and what a time we had. Blue cheese and oysters for openers , really didnt think i would be eating that there , a lovely hot meal and salads and plenty to drink , a couple of bets on the sweep , Remember this is a fantastic fund raiser at the same time, small win for me and re donated back to charity along with many others . This is where we met Bloodyron and had a nice chat and told us about the fundraising , i must say here that Ron is active in Fundraising but seems quite humble in his approach to it ,Good onya Ron .
Our last day we moved over Tuban ,to the Green garden spa and had a late checkout the next day , another great little hotel . We all enjoyed spa treatments and swimming and sauna here . I'm pleased to say that they are doing the footpaths along the stretch of road , having stayed and walked in many areas i think its some of the worst ive seen and pleased they are getting sorted .
And what would a holiday be without delays in leaving , we were told the president was arriving , not sure if it was our Prime minister or there president , then had to change gates ,so a good walk down to the other end of the airport , i think delayed about 2 hrs . And then the coach ride to the plane ( move over Fawlty towers ) all pile on the 2nd coach , he kept putting into gear ,no thats first , i need reverse repeat many many times , ummm, no reverse , passenger showing him , still no luck . All off , we are off , bloody hell he found reverse all back on , not sure what the first load of passengers thought had happened to us all , the bus was burning something all the way to the plane think he had maybe left the handbrake on , our holidays always seem to end with humour , Julie
