This may be a long shot but I thought since BTF has proven to be such a wonderful wealth of info over the years for so many of us & has such a diverse range of people that someone may have some info to share. This query is not specifically Indonesian related but I am wondering what the deal is for an Australia citizen who has lived & worked in USA for around 30 years & previously lived & worked in Australia for over 20 years - regarding either an Aussie or American pension ? IF they came to either Australia or Indonesia to live (were of eligible pension age in either USA or Australia) what if any pension can they collect ? Please no flaming as I know that this query can/could be answered by a couple of phone calls to Canberra - but I was talking to one of my very close Aussie cousin of mine tonight who has lived in USA for a long time & she just mentioned in passing that she is seriously considering coming back to Australia or even going to Indonesia to live as she is nearing retirement age & said it will be to hard to live in USA with retirement income.I said I thought I had read something on BTF about there being a problem with claiming an Aussie pension if you had not lived & worked in Australia in the past 5 years + that I knew nothing about USA pensions for expats Aussies who had lived & worked in USA - but that I expected that some people on the travel forum may possibly know.Any one out there who has any ideas ? As I said it's just cause I am still awake & I am somewhat excited about the possibility of my cousin coming somewhat closer to home to live instead of being right over in USA. Hope someone is able to have some positive input.
