There is a mini Mart quiet close to the Mandira.
I felt quiet safe but not sure if I would venture out on my own after dark. There are so many nice people to meet and I think you would have a great experience travelling on your own.
Just be cautious like you would at home basically don't go onto streets you are unsure of etc
Directions to ketuts from the Mandira - walk out of the hotel and down the road away from the beach. The first street on the right is garlic lane, turn down this street. On the left hand side there are small side streets miss ketuts is down the last one before the end of the street. (The shop on the corner is mainly handbags miss ketut is down past this one) she takes up 4 shops she is fixed no bartering and even hands out free waters. She has helpers and all!
