The morning walk was greeted by a wide, flat and firm Kuta Beach with no sign of rubbish and surfers already out with cameras set up to capture moments.
However, I note there are many small holes with piles of sand alongside..... the legacy of the treasure hunter with spotlight on head.
For some reason, the dog had a need to stick his nose into every one of them looking for who knows what.
As I moved along to the Beach walk area, I noted many more holes and thought that this guy must have been up very early indeed to do all this.
However, low and behold, moving further north there was another treasure hunter creating his own minefield, with similar scanning equipment and leaving similar holes and molehills.
I thought to myself how easy it is to think one person is responsible for certain conditions, when in fact there are two totally separate people involved.
There is a lesson for some in that.
Yesterday was busy with the ride to north Denpasar to the animal food wholesaler.
Probably a 30 minute ride to a huge outlet hidden away in a mostly residential area.
Not surprisingly, run by an elderly Chinese Indonesian employing Balinese and other staff.
For lunch, it was a ride in the opposite direction, past Jimbaran to a very nice café called Bonbon.
Nestled in a small side street off the University road above Jimbaran, this place has a good selection of western and Indonesian foods at good prices.
I can recommend the mushroom and chicken wrap served with chips at around 60k.
After the ride back with sweeping views across the airport and the southern parts, I visited old friends at Kuta Townhouses.
The residents have had an uncertain couple of years, so it is good to see a degree of stability returning.
Feeling tired at tea time I took the easy option at Warung Balon where Mie Goreng and Chap Chay can be had for around 40k.
Excellent fresh food in a very local environment.
Weather partly cloudy and nice breezes.
More to come.
