Sunsets on Kuta Beach.... the last paradise, or so it states on the large neon sign at the Kuta beach rotunda.
So I guess it must be true.
Last nights meal was at a place you won't have heard of.... Naxos.
Located in Gg Bedugul, it replaces a post Covid warung that never really got off the ground due to lack of interest by staff who couldn't be bothered to get off their A...ses.
The guy running it is an Iraqi, long time in KL and now here.
He has a chicken roasting oven outside and the smell of chickens cooking attracted me and not a few local dogs too.
Typical of places that have literally just opened, the first night was somewhat disjointed with staff very keen to serve but also clearly inexperienced.
The food however was very good, with typical middle eastern meats, served with tasty flat bread, some with a sandwich of pressed meat inside.
For a beer, the staff ran to the supermarket to buy!!
It will improve and we will encourage as much as possible along the way.
This mornings walk on the beach was in misty weather with clear signs of rain on the sand, likely last night as skies were clear at 6am.
Tide was half out and beach clean and better for walking.
Many people already about including large tour groups doing joint exercises as prospective surfers limbered up doing manoeuvres that they will never replicate when in the water.
I started my walk on the footpath outside the new beach wall as far as the rotunda.
The footpath is around 8 meters wide and is more of a promenade providing excellent conditions for walking or jogging.
Along the front of the wall, mature old frangipanis with elk horns affixed have been planted every 10 meters or so.
Once established and flowering these will be a nice addition to the street side of the wall.
Along the kerb at Beach walk around 100 round white planter pots have been placed, with flowering bouganvilias (sp) starting to present a display.
Early morning on Poppies One traders are preparing for mthe day with the newish OHO salad bar already open for business.
The weather has been relatively cool, with kites appearing more and more as the breezes kick in.
I will have a ride around the Kuta art market end of the beach this morning to see what's new.
Rupe at around 10,350 and Bintang mostly icy cold.
