We were in Bali last week and are now in Thailand. We just got back from having tea and witnessed a young Thai boy crash his scooter into a car. He was thrown in the air it was quite horrific to see. Being first aiders we went to assist but at first the locals would not let us near. He was bleeding badly I explained he needed help and eventually after persisting they let me near him. I was able to stem the bleeding from a bad gash in his foot and did what I could for him. He was very lucky as he was thrown quite high in the air and as far as I could tell was only his foot injured but was hard as there was a language barrier and the locals really didn't want me near him.
My sympathies to the family of the young Aussie teen, could have been one of my boys as they both snuck off when we were in Bali years ago and hired scooters when they were 15 and 17 after drumming into them not to they still did.
