I have seen some of what is available in Jl. Hassanudin.
There is a local hotel close by at the end of the gold shops, but not sure what the situation for "pay as you go" may be.
A bit of a walk, but if you go down "cloth street" just opposite the gold shops all the way to the end and turn left, walk over the river bridge and you will find Hong Kong restaurant with nice, clean facilities and excellent food and drinks.
From gold shops about 10 minute walk, but under the right conditions and encouragement you could do it in three!!
