We were there last may and at that time you could drive from the village to the carpark at the top of the hill. The road is paved all the way to the carpark. You then had to walk down a rough dirt track to the beach. It was not too far but very hot when walking back up the hill from the beach. They still charge you to use the road but only a dollar or so. I have heard that there is another road coming in from the other side of the beach but it is only for motorbikes.
