I answered correctly thru my own and other members in my group that travel together. I have been with Optus for several years, daughter with Vodaphone, sister with Telstra. Whenever our contracts were renewed we always asked that our phones be unlocked because of travel. Many years ago they would unlock soon after we requested. The last, say 5 years we have been told, thru each of our providers that our phones are already unlocked, all Iphones except one with a Samsung. My son is flying out to Bali in a couple of days. His contract was renewed last month, he hasn't requested his phone to be unlocked. He just put my sim card in his phone, no problems at all. His phone is already unlocked.
