In Australia, providers charge a hefty fee to unlock a mobile phones in the first 12 months of a post paid contract.
I have unlocked an Optus iPhone by using the Optus Filipino Call Centre. It was a long process using a iTunes on a PC.
Optus did not charge me, as the phone was out of contract.
