Just a thought but if root canal is covered on your private health cover at home, might be best to get it done a little while before the crown.

My dentist recommended exactly that as there can sometimes be infections or other issues with the root canal, and the temporary filling is easier to remove than the crown if something goes wrong.

I had a minor infection that was cleared up with antibiotics, so no drama, but glad I did it that way. Private covered most of the cost of the root canal but not crowns on the level of cover I had at the time. So then got the crown done in Bali about 6 months later.
