Last Sunday left Candi Dasa for Amed, made use of Perama bus service a nice enjoyable ride including the long detour. We had just passed through Almapura when we ran into a road block, temple festival and could be stuck there for a long time. Perama driver obviously know his way around so turned his bus around and took what we shall call the scenic route.
A small tight twisting and turning road passing through many small villages, great to see.
Only downside for me was to see the amount of plastic rubbish strewn all over the countryside. Canny blame that one on the tourists.
Arrived in Amed, a funny kinda place, you don't really know where it begins and where it ends but as luck would have it I spotted my hotels sign board from the bus. Stayed at a place called Pakels Bungalows. This place has only been open for a few months so evrything was still sparkly and bright. Fantastic view of Gunung Agung from the beach just in front of the hotel.
Again another downside, ther is a lot of development going on in the area so it can be noisy during working hours. Went to go and find a feed for lunch, found Warung Ole, the sign outside says cooked with love, they were not kidding. I had a chicken curry that tasted out of this world. Idr30,000 ok I will confess I had exactly the same for dinner, that's how good it was.
Watching the sun slip behind Gunung Agung is a sight to behold, just a shame that the younger generation missed it because their faces were stuck in their mobile phones, their choice I guess. Did some snorkelling and caught some rays, that about sums Amed up for me.
Next stop Lovina, again with a Perama sort bus company, nice easy way to travel and a lot cheaper than private transport for a lone traveller.
Spent the first night at Lovina beach cottage, old and dank, thank goodness I had only booked one night. Had a look around and booked a further three nights at Narwana seaside cottages, a far nicer place and cheaper then the first place, poolside room with breakfast for a mere $30 a night. Highly recommend.
This brings me to the subject of eating in Lovina, went to both Warung Apple and Warung Ayu, great food for an extremely low price. Global Kafe on the main road is also worth a mention. Thing is a few nights I did eat in slightly more expensive places, Lumbumg, Kakatoa, Up to You,prices higher but the food was not any better than the cheap warungs
Did the usual trips from my Lovina base, Git Git, Banjar hot springs ect, all still much the same as last time.
Off to Ubud now for the last leg of mr trip around Bali and I think I need to go and buy some new socks, I'm sure you can guess why.
