I do not think that Australian servicemen died helping the Dutch fight the Indonesian revolutionaries. Australian servicemen died at Moratai, Balipapan, Merauke, Tarakan and Hollandia fighting the Japanese.

My father served at Hollandia, now Biak. His business partner was sent into Surabaya harbour in August 1945 in a small boat with six other servicemen to see if the Japanese would actually surrender. The RAN would not send it's large ships into Surabaya Harbour until they were sure that Japanese had actually surrendered. My father's business partner was greeted by Japanese admirals and generals bowing. His orders were only to free the POWs. He had no other orders.

Australian troops also landed in southern Sulawesi. The officers sympathised with the Dutch while the ORs sympathised with the Indonesian revolution. Amongst the ORs were members of the Australian Communist Party. They fed news of the Indonesian revolution back to the Australian Communist Party. The ORs wanted to return to Australia and leave the army as WW2 was over.

British servicemen died in the Battle of Surabaya against the Indonesian revolutionaries.
