We went to Bali at the end of July so this report is a little late. Arrived after lunch on a Tuesday and had an easy run through customs. I'd booked the Ajunta Villas in Sanur through Hotelclub for $30.00 for one night. This turned out to be a $250 private villa with a private plunge pool which was excellent. I tried to book the next night for the same price and was laughed at by the receptionist so we moved down to the Puri Sadang. We had a great time in Sanur. Went to the Beatles museum, which was a hoot. Lots of memorabilia and photos and models of the Fab Four on the stage. We both had facials at Ayu Spa and haircuts at Chic Salon which were excellent. Ate at the Rib Restaurant several times because the food was so good. Played with a band called The Young Guns at the Ducks Nuts who rocked the house.
Then we moved on to Ubud. I'd wanted to stay at a B & B so had booked a night at B Dorrys. This proved to be a little bit far out of town and being surrounded by rice paddies we were soon repacking to get back to the hustle of Ubud. Checked into the Champlung Sari for a few nights mainly because it is right across the road from Ganesha Indian which is one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever eaten at. Next was the Taman Ayu in Seminyak. Great hotel with very friendly staff. Had a night at the Potato Head which is always a great experience. Took in the Bali Beatles show called 'Facebeat' at the Nirvana Bar which was a hoot! From there we moved to the Paradiso Hotel in Legian. Great location but the rooms are oldy and mouldy as the misses says. We had $10.00 Chilli Mud Crab at Indoaustralian Cafe which is owned by two lovely aussie ladies. Had beers on Legian Beach at sunset. The new Bintang Radlers are very refreshing but only 2% alcohol. I was adding a nip of vodka to them and loving every mouthful. We had a fantastic $8.00 massage and body scrub in Legian but I have no idea what the place was called.
Then moved on to the Mega Boutique & Spa near the Galleria. Brand new hotel and somehow I got the room for $50.00 on line. Great place and brand new so the bathroom was first class. Then spent the day in Nusa Dua with some friends. Went to Uluwatu for the first time. What a fantastic experience! Finished off with dinner at Jimburran Bay before hitting the airport for the trip home. We had been praying all week the ash cloud would blow back in and strand us there for a few more days, but alas the gods had other plans. All up a fantastic holiday and looking forward to my 10th trip mid 2016.
