Heading to Bali soon. This is my plan and I'd like to know if anyone can see a flaw in it.
My Visa debit card is linked to a working account which has a minimal balance.
This working account is linked to a higher interest ISaver account which can't be accessed by card and which holds the bulk of my funds.
When I want to withdraw some funds I use internet banking on my IPhone to transfer the amount I want from my ISaver to my working account, go to the ATM, withdraw the amount I've transferred, leaving the minimal balance again until next time.
A little bit fiddley, but theoretically safe as it leaves bugger all to rip off.
