Here now in seminyak - dvd help pls

Hi all,
Currently in bali staying at the Marriott in seminyak - opposites breezes. We got some DVDs the other night & they're all shocking, stop start mainly. Is the dvd quality not what it use to be? Or can someone please recommend somewhere reputable for a good selection including tv series. Thanks so much in advance for your help!!
