L eft Perth Sunday at 1.35pm on Jetst*
Nice smooth flight and arrived 5.15pm.
To our dismay the lines for VOA were HUGE. About 50 minutes in line then another lengthy wait in line.
Bagge off Turnstyle by the time we arrived -think cobwebs were beginning on the cases it took so long.
Finally out to find our driver amongst a see of faces waving more banners than the crowd at a Geelong AFL final.
Arrived at Tegal Sari Ubud at about 8.15pm.
Shown to our wooden room upstairs overlooking rice field. Magnificent room with daybed and chairs on large balcony. Big bathroom with views also over rice field. Dinner in room of braised beef, pork, steamed rice, vegetables etc -very good.
A few relaxing drinks and watched The road to Perdition before sleeping like a baby (strange comparison really when you think how most babies sleep )
Breakfast on balcony next morning followed by checking work emails and then a swim in one of the two pools.
Spent an hour or so reading why Jeffery Archer should or shouldn't tell the President of the USA she was the subject of an assignation plot.
Lunch at our old favourite Taco Casa just outside the hotel. Food delicious, fresh and reasonably pricked as always.
Leisurely walk around the area in afternoon to soak up the sights, sounds and smells. Stopped for an ice cold Bintang and decided if Jeffery Archer comes in for drink I am going to tell him after giving it careful thought I think he should inform the President of the planned assignation plot.
Dinner that night at Wild Ginger, a delightful small Family Warung, I found on TripAdvisor. For anyone visiting Ubud this place should not be missed. The food here is right up there with May restaurants we have eaten in Bali over many years.
Finished the night sipping gin & tonic listening for the elusive seven calls of the balcony lizards (thanks Dutchnat I now must count every lizards "barks" and ponder if it could be your Gary 🍀
