we flew out on Sat 4th oct from Syd and they did not have visa on board. Said system down. The lady from garuda was sitting at counter with a sign stating that service was unavailable. Don't see why they couldn't still let you pay for the visa in Syd and then just have to line up for immigration.
The whole system is a joke. We had to have all passports scanned at counter where you pay for VOA and then had to go through immigration to have passport scanned again and visa stuck into passport. Don't see why it can't all be done in one go. Took my family 2 hours to get through immigration. Lucky my husband is Balinese and we went through local counter took. 5 min to process 7 of us.
The new airport is worse than the old. Planes land on tarmac then bused to terminal, no planes at any gates so don't understand why esp Garuda flights aren't allowed to use air bridges.
Think this will be our last trip to Bali as I am over it. Too much over development and the infrastructure not able to cope. Roads over crowded, no parking available where ever you go, Kuta and Legian is a joke traffic wise. Even Sanur is becoming busier.
Will definitely be looking elsewhere for holidays in the future.
