take the prints off the frames (the guys in the shop will do this)
Go to local hardware shop (not the likes of Ace etc) and purchase a piece of say 100mm or 150mm PVC pipe so the rolled up prints can be inserted.
Putting them back on a frame when you get home should not be too difficult and cheap enough.
"Some wood carvings" could mean anything from a small box of stuff to half a container!
Certainly, do as others suggest and maximise the luggage allowance for all travelling.
It may also be prudent to split your purchases across a couple of trips, based on what you really need now.
Normally, one can survive a few months without a certain wood carving.
You seem to be accepting of the fact that excess will apply.
There are air freight shipping companies that can do this for you at cheaper rates than airline excess rates.
If you peruse "Bali Advertiser" many companies advertise such services there.
Good luck with it....let forumites know how you go.
