Sorry, only just saw your question from my recent jbr re the tailor I use at Sanur, Mina at Goning Tailor.
I have had dozens of items made over a number of years and mostly extremely happy. When things aren't as good as I hoped its usually because I get inappropriate fabric for the design - such as silky fabric for a copy of a stretchy wrap dress.
I have often taken samples for copying and this always works well if you get the same kind of fabric. I have a couple of favourite styles and get them with minor changes - sleeves long or short, neckline lower or not. I have been very happy with some silk shift dresses, very simple style but great fabric.
I have taken photos and that worked well also, I have also chosen pics in old pattern books she has.
You need to be very clear about the fit you want (loose or fitted) and I either show her what I want and she tells me how many metres to buy or I ask at Alta Moda when I buy the fabric.
Leave plenty of time for any alterations that may be needed.
I cant really comment on prices as I am a regular and get a better deal but cheaper than the only other tailor I tried who came to the hotel many hours later than booked and friends also think prices ok when they have used Mina.
Good Luck.
Jan
