The cheapest I've found Garuda is around $600 on special Melb-DPS return. Whereas Jetstar regularly has specials around $400 for the same route. They even had $198 return fares last week.
I paid the extra $200 for my recent October flights on Garuda but there was pretty much no difference for me. Yeah, I got free food and entertainment which I didn't use because I'd seen all the movies before and on the return trip my headphone jacks didn't even work. That's not worth $200 extra.
Back to Jetstar for next year's trip.
