It depends who I can convince to come with me. If friends, I'll find a multi-bedroom villa within 5 mins walk to Jalan Kayu Aya (Laksmana). Otherwise just a hotel. I won't be spending anywhere near Bali Mandira prices though, I just need a comfortable room close to good food!
Ananda and Mutiara are two I've short listed but I have much more research to do.
