We went to Balian from Legian in June this year and survived to spend 6 wonderful days there. The one lane road to Balian is really busy as apparently it leads to a major port, probably took us over an hr and a 1/2. Looks like they're making a new road but wasn't anywhere near ready to use. It's just your hectic Bali traffic but don't let that put you off going to Balian coz it's well worth it. Enjoy!
