Ferry Sinks off Bali, 5 Dead

Rescuers pulled 160 people from the sea after a ferry traveling from Indonesia's Bali island sank early yesterday, killing five and leaving at least five others missing, a rescue official said. The Wimala Dharma boat sank at 3:45 a.m. local time while on its way to nearby Lombok Island.
Survivors reported seeing the vessel slowly take on water, and speculated that overloading of passengers and heavy vehicles on board may be to blame, El-Shinta radio reported. The station said the ship's register only recorded 135 people on board. However, the state Antara news agency, quoting survivors, estimated that about 200 people were on the boat.
